VBAC Births (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean)
If you have experienced a cesarean birth, you will likely have two options for your next birth, a VBAC or a repeat cesarean. The American Congress of Obsttricians and Gynecologists has this to say about VBAC birthing.
"VBAC is a safe and appropriate choice for most women with one prior cesarean and for some women with two prior cesareans. Being pregnant with twins, going over 40 weeks, having an unknown or low vertical scar, or suspecting a “big baby" should not prevent a woman from planning a VBAC (ACOG, 2010).
VBAC is my area of expertise and near and dear to my heart. My second birth was a VBAC, I was so thankful to have a doula present during that birth! I enjoy supporting women who choose to attempt a VBAC birth and I want to provide the same support and comfort that my doula brought to me.

Cesarean Births
Many people are under the impression that a doula is not needed for, or will not attend a cesarean birth. As a woman who personally experienced a cesarean birth, I know what happens before, during and after the surgery. I did not have a doula present and I so wish that I had!
The fact of the matter is that cesarean births account for one third of all births in the USA. While many argue that statistic is unnecessarily high, no one argues that the statistic is there. Doula support during a cesarean birth can be just as beneficial as it is for a vaginal birth (see Rebecca's testimony on the testimonials page)
Many women do not know that they have options with a cesarean birth. Having a doula can make your experience the best it can be! I would love to talk to you more about this and welcome any questions that you may have.
